Oak is one of the most popular species for hardwood flooring and often thought of as the traditional choice. Solid oak is a very hard, heavy, open-grained wood that grows from deciduous and evergreen trees in the United States. It is found in both red and white varieties. Red oak (also known as black oak) has a pinkish cast and is the more popular option in a natural finish. White oak has prominent rings and large pores that allow it to stain well in any color.

3/4" solid plank flooring is for ON or ABOVE grade only Allow for 3/4" expansion between the first row of boards and the wall. All verticle obstructions parallel to the grain must have a 3/4" expansion space. Face nail the first row of boards End joints should always be staggered by at least 6" Space nails 3" from ends and every 10-12" GENERAL INSTALLATION RULES Check jobsite for moisture. Correct if present 1/2" plywood or thicker for subfloors Minimum stabilized room temp of 60 degrees Deliver and open bundles in rooms to be installed at least 72 hours before installation Nail down only - perpendicular to joists spaced 16" o.c.
